Half a century later, Lécuyer redesigns those places with a digital fantasy — Nathalie Azoulai / The Red List / September 2013

Shown at the Spanish Photography Festival Getxophoto, Alban Lécuyer is a young French photo reporter working on contemporary suburban landscapes. Buildings and housing projects launched in the 60s in France, Spain or Cuba, that were supposed to bring comfort and modernity to low class families and stage an urban fairy tale. Half a century later, Lécuyer redesigns those places with a digital fantasy. His creative eye mixes real pictures with 3D projection effects, superimposes reality and virtuality in order to show the viewer what the expectation was and how disappointing it turned out. Famous French photo curator Christian Caujolle picked up his work. No wonder.
