The photographer leads us to think about the transformation of the city, its concept and the use of the images. — Christian Caujolle / PhotoPhnomPenh catalogue / January 2015

In Photoshop, Alban Lecuyer ‘‘restores’’ apartment buildings around the world: Cuba, Sarajevo today, and naturally in France. For his photography project, he showcases photos that vaunt the glory of buildings under construction. Playing with the aesthetics of billboards near the future buildings, the photographer keeps the “real people”, who now live in these apartments when the advertising shows exclusively modern characters, active, clean, rich. Nowadays in Europe, many areas outside the city center have become ghettos, degraded, violent and are periodically, destroyed. The photographer leads us to think about the transformation of the city, its concept and the use of the images.  And he shows that reality is always far away from it’s representation or evocation.
