Alban Lécuyer is a photographer and artist who graduated from the Lille School of Journalism.

Since 2010, he’s working on a project exploring the concepts of destruction and sedimentation, memory and forgetting in representations of the landscape. This work initially focused on the gap between fantasized representations of the city and the reality of places, before shifting toward the relationships—whether of attachment or constraint—that residents have with the transformations of their territory.

His first solo series, Downtown Corrida, received the SFR Young Talents Circulation(s) Award in 2011. In 2017, he published his first monograph, Coming Soon: Sarajevo (Intervalles, Paris), and won the Coup de cœur/Réponses Photo Award at the Rencontres photographiques de Montpellier for the series The Grand Opening of Phnom Penh. He is the recipient of the 2026 UPP Prize.

His work has been exhibited at the MAC Créteil as part of the 200 LUX Festival (Bicentennial of Photography labeled), at the National Center of Photography and Images in Taipei (Taiwan, 2025), the Quinzaine photographique nantaise (2026 and 2024), the Jeu de Paume-Tours (2022), the BnF (Paris, 2018), the Boutographies (Montpellier, 2017), the French Institute in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2016), the Marcantonio Vilaça Cultural Center in Brasília (Brazil, 2016), the Photo Phnom Penh Festival (Cambodia, 2015), the Singapore International Photography Festival (2014), the Salon de Montrouge (2013), the BAL (Paris, 2011) and at the Circulation(s) Festival (Paris, 2011).
